Default Quick tire wheel question

Guys,

I want to put 245/35/18 tires on my stock Avus 18 wheels. Stock tire is 235/40/18. Worried that they may not fit properly (look funny) in terms of width on the rim. Any comments are appreciated.

hmm... im not positive on the width but you may be stretching it.. how does it look now with the 235 on it. Im sure it can be done and youd be fine. any reason you want to go to 245.

Yeah the reason I wanted to go a little wider was really only for looks. The car looks really nice with wider rubber from the back. Part of the problem too is the tires I just got. I went from the factory Dunlop Sport 01's when they wore out, to Michelen Pilot Sport PS2. The Michelen's suck bad compared to the Dunlops....follow the groves in the Southern California freeways and generally just feel sloppy in comparison. Discount didn't carry the Dunlops...had to order them and I was sold into the Michelen. Even though both tires are the same size, the Michelen's are a little bit more narrow. The easy solution is to just get new Dunlops of course but thought while I'm at it I would just go up a size too.

raelly... the pilot sports are supposed to be one of the best tires out there. I am running those and for the most part i like them.. but im not sure which model yours are compared to mine..i have teh directional arrow type. i think those are just straight pilot sport.

I'm not sure why they feel so sucky but maybe that little difference in the contact patch between the two tires is what's causing it. Regardless, I can totally feel the difference and for that reason would never recommend the Pilot Sports. In any case, I think I'll just stick with the 235/40 set up, get my width back with the Dunlops and see what happens.

Thanks for the comments.
