mottpower, so you think it'd be more rational and less costly to work on the s4 engine rather than keeping a stock rs4? one more thing, can a rs4 engine actually be upgraded? -(no sarcasm involved)-

it can be, i've seen a few rs4 advertised in germany with turbo and chip upgrades looking at about 100hp gain on the original 380. but where can you find a stand alone engine? from what i know, this was a limited number production run from cosworth and they were all used in rs4s. your best bet (and cheaper one) is to do like 2k is saying and look into modifying a s4 engine to stage 3.

 

it would be much easier, unless you have money to spend, not to mention finding a used rs4 engine would be kinda difficult i would imagine and getting it shipped here, i would say just get a stage III setup, you WON'T be disappointed, the RS4 engine is easily upgradable though, I've seen guys getting 500 crank horsepower with simple bolt ons and a chip. great engine, but worth swapping into an S4? eh...

 

yeah, it's all true. If i get the s4 engine, I'd be changing all the internals and bottom end (if necessary). So right there alone is pricey, so that's why I had the rs4 engine in mind. Maybe it's a more expensive engine. But after what i put into the s4 engine fully built, maybe it'd be equal and / or more expensive as an rs4 engine. if that makes any sence.... and all for equal power. But i'm looking to get 600 crank horse power.

 

600HP IS NOT going to happen with K04's.

 

hehe i heard somewhere that the biggest gt series turbo kit for the s4 will be making 800 awhp but im not sure if thats true
mmmmmmm 800 awhp....lol might snap your neck with a hard launch with those numbers lol

 

i wasn't thinking on using k04's. I think the gt28r turbos can pull it off, but not certain about it. Wicked motorsports are tuning 600+hp audis. I think they have a 900hp project going on. But i think gt28's would be a good set up for the car....... internals would be modified as well. Not sure about bottom end.
