S4 water pump replace question
Hey forum, my water pump is making an unpleasant buzzing noise like the bearings are goind bad. I was thinking I would swap it out for a new one. I searched and found comments about having to remove the intake to do this job. Is that true? It doen't look like that would be necessary, but I wanted some advice before I begin.
Thanks

You need to get a haynes or bentley manual or at least something to help you through the job, you do have to remove the plastic pipes going into the TBB to get access to the timing belt area.
Might as well do everything while your in there. You can get an entire kit from www.ecstuning.com

auditech79....thanks for the reply. I'm going to subscribe to Bentley's online. When you say that I might as well do everything while I'm in there, do you mean I should do thetiming belt? The car only has 35K miles, so I don't want to complicate the job if I don't have to. What other things should be done while I'm doing the water pump? Much appreciated!
Tookit to the shop so they can determine if it's the water pump or a pulley making the noise.I'm not up for a timing belt job myself. If it's the pump, then they can do the timing belt also. In addition, I need them to put it on the vag-com because I don't think the car is as fast as it should be (ck eng lite is on). If it is running right, then I'll be disappointed because it's not that fast.Shop is doing brakes, oil, and interior water leak also. If they do well, then I'll post a recommendation ( So. Fla).
In the middle of the bar, you can see the WP pulley

If they do the TB job, just have them check for boost leaks & other codes. It will be easy for them to see the TBB & other stupid things when they do the TB job.
