Hello All,

I am an Audi newb, I currently own a 95 M3 and am looking into an S4 Avant for my girlfriend and I. I located one in my area with 70k on it. It is an auto (I know....but its for the lady). The recently had some preventative maintenace done (timing belt, plugs, coolant, oil, ect.)and engine repair for bent valves. I have the service receipt and spoke to theshop that did the work. The shop said the car is strong and was maintained well by the prvious owner, but if this is the case, how did it get bent valves? The previous owner was said to be an enthusiast and "babied" the car. The car has no motor mods, but does have a boost gauge to monitor the boost prior to the oil being at running temp (so he said....or maybe he beat on the car??) I plan to get it inspected prior to purchasing, but thought I would get some input/opinions from all of you. I have found bimmerforums.com to be more than helpful, so I thought I would try here. Do you guys have a "parked" or "stickey" thread about buying a used A4/S4? If so, can someone link me, because I couldnt find it.

Beyond the motor the car seems to be in great shape, and I think the motor is too, but the bent valves thing worries me a bit. Any advice that can be provided to me would be great. Am I crazy for considering the car? Can I trust the shops stamp of approval? Thoughts?

The bent valves are from the timing belt going bad which is probably whyit wasjust done, if the timing belt goes the valves will hit and bend, could have been worse... but its fixed so no worrys now.
