story of my new baby- '05.5 S4 (long)
Well, after months of reading reviews, researching options, going through threads on this excellent newsgroup you guys and gals have going on here, I took the plunge. Drove 1,000 miles and 16hrs to check out an '05.5 S4 sedan with 14,000 miles on the clock. At the end of the day, I was driving it home.
It'sdolphingrey metallic, full black leather interior, 6spd, carbon fibre trim, nav, premium audio, XM, premium package, heated rear seats, TPMS, CPO warranty
I test drove an '06 avant a little while ago and wasn't overly impressed with the power, which I had in my head when I took this one for a spin. Turns out that was just all in my head. I was a little more generous with the throttle with sedan and threw it into some corners, and it totally impressed me. Shows that the car doesn't always bite your head off if you don't want it to.
The drive home was craploads of fun. I love that sound! Learned interesting things about it the whole way back. One thing still stumpsmethough- how do I use the navigation (I call her Sally... Sally-SatNav) and NOT listen to any sort of music? I ended up picking MP3 CD which I didn't have in to trick it into being quiet. Huh?
I bought the car in the south and drove north to get home- ran into some snow about 150miles from home and the performance summer tires weren't much good... starting wasn't that bad, it was the turning and stopping that didn't work out so well. I'm shopping for snows on 17" wheels.
Also, couldn't figure out what the red "A" was in the rearview mirror underneath the compass. Some red arrows also showed up once. Later discovered that it's a Valentine One system- in the manual pocket under the steering wheel is a power switch thingy with headphone jack. And, when I look closely at the mirror, I see "Valentine One" written behind the glass. Not sure where to find out what model it is so I can check if it is detectable though.
