Default Tire Wheel Question

I've got an 05 S4. I'm trying to get a wider looking stance from the rear. Anyone see a problem having the rears wider than the fronts on this car (beyond the fact that I won't be able to rotate tires front to back) due to all wheel drive? Any reason why I shouldn't do it?

not a good idea... with awd you should have all 4 wheels the same otherwise you can experience problems and wear on the drivetrain.

if you want a more aggresive stance... get some wheels and stagger the offset.

Definately don't do different size tires. Like sooks said bad for the AWD system. But staggered wheels will give you the look without any problems.

Well tech you could do different size wheels..you just need the same rolling diameter. Which is very very hard.

well like i said, it can be done.. but even with a wider tire in back, you have different rolling diameters.. which isnt good.

i.e. 235/35/18 not same as 225/35/18

To get close enough to not cause any harm you have to be within one percent of the same diameter. Some systems are so sensitive that my company now makes anyone buying tires for AWD vehicles not in sets of 4 sign wavers. I don't think the S4's fall into this category because they are very torque biased, but better safe than sorry.
