Default warming up in the cold

with winter approaching and here in New England its already cold as hell, i had a question about warming the engine up. On my old a6 the owners manual said to not let the car idle when its cold out but to drive it without reving it high, my s4 I have been letting it idle for 10-15 mins before i take off. What method is the best for the car?

just drive it easy, stay out of boost for the turbos. its ok to let it idle, but just as fine to drive, key is to cycle oil thru system until warmed up.

i usually just let the car warm up until the revs drop, then drive slow and keep it below 3k at all costs

i wait till the RPM drops to about 800-900, and take it easy on the car for a good 5 mins of driving...
