year?
hey guys i currently have an a6 2.7t tip and wanted to go stage 3 with it but i didnt feel like dropping 6000 on tranny work alone. ive been looking at a few 6 speed s4's in my area but i was wondering if there was any differences between the 2000 vs 2001 versions because i kno that the 2000 a6's had more problems with their suspensions than later versions. any help would be greatly appreciated because i am going to put my car up for sale asap and will just be driving my 02 gmc sierra around until i get the s4 and 11 mpg isnt that fun for traveling between the city and upstate every few days (about 100 miles) thanks. is suede interior a bad idea?
Between 2000 and 2001 they're isn't many differences, or ones that you would actually notice.
But in 2001.5 they added ESP. I think I remember reading in Consumer Reports that 2001 was a problem year for the S4's, I'm pretty sure but I would have to double check.

2001.5 has all the updates. if you think about it you are going to spend a good amount of money if you get a S4 as well. most need new control arms (all years were bad for that) new 02's maf most likely and possibly a new TB and water pump not only that but with you upgrade to stage 3 you will need a clutch.
Just a thought.....I am a hipacret tho as I changed from a tip to a 6 speed in my car....but in the end you don't need to spend 6k for a good trans. In the end you need a Tc and a Vb if you do the both you should be good for the stage 3 power......not only that but if you look at the pricing you are spending almost the same as you would if you got a lwfw and a stage 3 clutch
