So I bought my first car last week at 18 years old. 1998 A4 1.8t and I love the thing to death. Smart me decided it would be cool to have loud exhaust installed. Guy at Exhaust shop said cat back would be fine.…and I listened.

I live in Toronto, Ontario. Cops have already become a huge pain in my ***. The car just screams for attention. I think cat back was a little bit too much but I still want a bit of a throaty growl to it.

Anybody done something similar to give it a nice, but not obnoxious, growl?

Keep in mind I'm on a budget xD

I was told by redline380 that a cherry bomb would be good to keep the throaty sound. Do I use a cherry bomb resonator?

 

You saying you had cat back straight pipe installed?

I did that once, 3" pipe to a 4" tip... 2 days later installed a resonator lol

If you did straight pipe it, yes install a cherry bomb on a budget. Ask the shop if they have any used mufflers. My guy has a pile he has removed.
