What does tight suspension on a car feel like?
I just switched from a Mercedes sedan to their little roadster (SLK 320) and it drives so differently. I understand why the steering is tighter on sports cars, but what does it mean when someone says a car has tight suspension (in practical terms, how it drives)? What does a car feel like that has tight suspension as opposed to one with loose?
Tighter suspension is mostly due to stiffer springs (with higher spring rates) and shocks with sportier valving, or even shocks/struts with high pressure gas inaddition to the hydraulic oil. However, comparing one car to another is more than shocks and springs. Car weight, suspension type (ie 4 link, macpherson strut), weight distribution front to rear can make 2 cars act and feel completely different.
So, uh, hanging out on an Audi forum with a Merc?
