Default need to make sure these 19s fit

came across these nice rims. i thought they had a 35mm offset, but they are actually 40mm offset.

This is on a 99 A4 2.8 quattro think it has the sport suspension, has the red shocks and aluminum spoke wheels.

rims size is 19x8 with 40mm offset.
also what size tires do i run on them now?

on the back right now there are 205 on the stock wheels, seems they fairly close the suspension already.....just want to make sure the rims will fit.

hope you have great feedback......

thanks....

You can use them but you may need spacers. My wheels are 19x8 with a 42 offset and I needed 5mm spacers to run them with 235-35-19 tires - without them the tires hit the spindles. To play it safe I would get spacers (got them from www.ecstuning.com) and wheel studs that are 5mm longer (www.blackforestindustries.com) so that you still have a good bite to hold them on.

He actually had spacers for me with the wheels. Worked out nicely.
He had a universal set though....
2 5mm
2 3mm

I might pick up 2 5mm spacers just make everything even. I did consider leaving the back out further than the front to give a little staggered look.
Not sure yet.

Figure even with a 37 offset I should be able to run 235.

I guess I need to track down some bolts now and decide how long I want them. I went to the site you mentioned above, they mentioned with only a 5mm spacer you can use the stock length....I think I'm going to add some length anyways to make sure it's all tight.

Thoughts?

Thanks, And I want to stay with conical 14mm ones correct?

That's how it worked for me - my effective offset with spacers is 37. However, if you are able to clear the uprights up front using 3mm spacers it's going to be insanely tight. I'd do what you mentioned and get two more 5mm spacers. I know they say stock bolts are ok with 5mm spacers but I wanted peace of mind and didn't want to run on 5mm less "grip" on the hubs so I bought the longer bolts.

Just wanted to check....you are running a 235 right? Are you fairly close? You mentioned you had a 42 offset and used 5mm spacers. I have 40 and if I ran a 3mm spacer I would be at your 37 offset. I dont mind getting the other spacers, but if I'm going to clear everything I might as well use what I have.
In the front we should be same then correct? In the rear I'll more out since I'll be at 35 there vs your 37.

I wasn't sure if you noticed that or not.
So on the rear I'll be at 35 and the front at 37 offest.

Thanks for the input....

Sorry, yeah that went right over my head lol. With your offset and 3mm spacers we will sit the same, and you'll have 2mm extra poke in the rear. If you're lowered you will probably rub. I rub up front over bumps (I'm down 2.5" up front). And yes I am on 235-35-19 tires.

cool...

I'm not lowered. Right now just have the factory sport suspension. In the future thought I might lowere it. Not at this time though.

was thinking about going with 40's instead of 35's for the tires...I was thinking it would not be as harsh of a ride and add a little more rubber hight.
(235-40-19 vs 235-35-19)

Thoughts?

Check that size vs stock on a tire calculator to see what kind of error you'll have. The 35-series is very close to OEM so the gauge accuracy is almost perfect. Otherwise you should be fine.
