Default Clutch problem I think.. help

This morning when i drove my TT the gears did not seem to want to go in, very clunky, as if no clutch.
Parked in town for 3 hours, when i got to drive home could not get it in gear at all.
After panicking for a few minutes noticed the clutch pedal was low to the floor, lifter it up and hey presto gear box would connect, drove all way home OK.
I have a warranty with the garage, so if there is a problem will need it sorting, is the clutch a hydraulic one? any way of checking fluids? is it linked to brake system?
Would appreciate any advice as have not got a clue on mechanics of a car, other than real basics.

Try topping of your brake fluid. Its been working for me for 6 months. But ultimately yes I believe it is the slave cylinder.

do you have to top the fluid regularly?

if so its leaking from somewhere and

if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, sounds like a duck ... its most likely your slave cylinder.

I like blue ducks. But I only have to top it off like once a month maybe, so its a slooooooow leak.

It is helpful for me as I know only basics.. when car wouldnt go in gear, called my partner, when he gets there he sits in for one minute, pulls the clutch up and then it works. ! left to me it would be RAC recovery truck and mild panic, so at least getting some answers on here I can talk some sense to him !!
Hopefully garage will be helpful and compete work under warranty, or no doubt that will be another battle !!

clutch is a wear item and is rarely replaced under warranty -- good luck to you though.
