trany or clutch? HELP!@!@!
i got a 2000 audi A6 2.7 twin turbo v6 manual transmition QUATTRO.
ive been having problems lately with my car when i go to 2nd 3rd and 4th gears
i have to force them. and sometimes my 4th gear grinds.
but this started yesterday. and before that i had to really push the clutch in all the way in.
does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be?

Clutch. Perhaps it is the clutch master or slave cylinder leaking or a bad throw out bearing. Here are some diagnostics.
1. If you push in the clutch and shift quickly with no problem but it gets balky if you push the clutch and wait 30 seconds then either the master or slave cylinder needs to be replaced.
2. If you hear or feel a grinding noise when you press the clutch or if there is a rattling noise which goes away when you just touch the clutch then your throw out bearing is bad. This will require removing the tranny and replacing at least the throw out bearing but while you are there you might as well replace the clutch.
Be aware that if you keep driving this way your clutch problem will turn into a clutch + tranny problem because you will damage the synchro's in the tranny.
