How do I program the immobilizer for a second key?
Sorry if this has been answered before but I've searched and I can't seem to find a straightforward answer. I have a 2005 A4 which is a b6. The car came with one key and my wife insisted on getting a spare which she ordered from the dealer for almost $200. When we went to pick it up they wanted another $159 to program it and there was no way I could justify spending that amount just to program a key. I managed to program all the buttons on the remote but I can't seem to get the immobilizer programmed, the car starts but then shuts off immediately. I have a vag-com but it seems like I need the SKC, which I don't have, to add another key to the car. Does anyone know how to program the key or figure out the SKC?
Thanks in advance,
Rich

Continue searching. The common answer is that the only way to get the immobilizer programmed is to pay the dealer to do it. There are some specialty auto shops that also have the ability to program the immobilizer chip in the keys. I have read somewhere (I don't recall where) that you can program the immobilizer with the vag-com but you need to get certain workshop and importer code numbers. I saw in a forum that you can go to an Audi dealership and get these code numbers from the window stickers on the vehicles in their lot but I really don't know the validity of this information or exactly what numbers to look for. My opinion is that it is kind of a risky move as you may end up bricking the working key that you currently have.
