Hi, I had my 1991 80 (non quattro) detailed, the next day I drove it for 3 hours down the interstate, then the car started dying, like it ran out of gas. It was November and very cold, so we put "heat" into the tank filled it up with premium, and basically it sat for 3 hours, while I kept restarting it. I got it going and amazingly it ran great for the next 1 1/2 days, only stuttered once more. But 2 days after, I drove to work (20 miles) and it died.I had it towed home, I replaced the fuel pump relay, (not the problem) the fuel pump, fuel filter
(still not it), I had it towed to my local garage, they replaced the temperature sending unit (which didn't help) the car will start and then run like it is runningon 3 of the 5 cylinders...and no power, then it suddenly clears up, and runs fantastic, but then returns to crap! This was last Nov. 26th. They then told me it was the fuel distributor and that's when I located a guy 300 miles away In Ironwood, MI.that said he could fix it. It's been there since Jan 11th and he can't figure it out! He has replaced the fuel distributor, swapped the computer with another car, and it still does it's problem! CAN ANYBODY HELP ME? DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS????

I'm thinking an electrical problem. Bosch fuel injection is basically fool proof, not so the electrical systems of these cars.
