Allroad 4.2 value question
Hi,
I may have the opportunity to trade in my '01 Volvo V70XC with 73k on the odo (but it has a new transmission) for a 4.2 Allroad with all options, 56K miles, very nice condition and all service history. The Allroad is coming from a Dealer, so, it will have gone through their reconditioning process. I paid about $9,500 for my Volvo 10 months ago and I'll have to trade in my car and pay another $6K for the 4.2 Allroad. For the money and performance upgrade...is it worth it? I know that this is a pretty subjective questions. I also understand that there is a pretty big performance difference between the 2 cars. I was hoping for other opinions relative to the value (taking into consideration scheduled repair costs) and any performance or other interesting trade offs that I might not have thought of. I own a '88 Quattro, so I'm already sold on the brand - I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons.
Thanks.

Depends on what they are giving you dor your Volvo.Top NADA value is $14.5k.I've had mine for less than 3 years.I've got 112k.It was a CPO.The only problems where cv boots and now the airsprings. The springs I ordered from Arnott at $300 each. They are a simple install or about $50 to $100 at a shop.I drive mine hard.I got 97k out of the original front brakes and still have the original front wipers.Get ahold of this guy if you want an extended warranty.

Well, they originally sold me the Volvo for $9,500 and it was defective. So they'll either install a new transmission, ECU brain and right tie rod at no charge to me or the other option is this '04 Allroad 4.2 and I would probably have to pay about $5K - $6K... I looked on NADA and they list clean trade in price @ $15,150 and clean retail price @ $17,975... Kelly Blue Book has it listed in excellent condition at $25K.
Doesn't sound like a bad deal if you're paying 5k-6k out of pocket for the trade in.
I have a 2.7t, so I can't speak for the 4.2, but I will say that I love my allroad. Like MYD, I've had an air spring replacement and am scheduled for cv boot replacement next week.
Did you test drive it yet? What did you think? My sister has the Volvo XC and it's a slug compared to the ar (especially the 4.2) and the interior in the ar is miles above the Volvo.
MYD, You really drive 1k a week in the ar?

Do It! I've had sports cars all my life-except my first car in High School which was a big old Impala station wagon-and this car absolutely rules! I've had it about 4 months, drive it every day about 100 miles+ and I love it. I hope whatever you do works out for you, but I really recommend the 4.2 for anyone who loves high-performance cars.
Best of luck!

Did you make a decision on the ar yet? I say get the car and opt for a good aftermarket warranty and you'll be in good shape.
(Bruce M over in audiworld forums can apparently hook you up with great aftermarket coverage that will include air spring replacement)
