Default High Idle when running

Hello,

I changed my clutch and got a problem with my idle after this change at the workshop. They thought it was the MAF, but I have now changed that alsowithout changes (this cost me $900).
The problem is at idle speed and between gearshifts. The idle speed here is about 1800rpm.
When I turn on my car it goes straight up to 1800rpm for so going slow down to normal idle. The same symptoms also happens at gear change, when I push in the clutch the idle won’t be normal before i stop COMPLEATLY!
Does anybody know what this symptoms could be? I do not have a VAGCOM, so deactivating the battery would maybe not be a good idea?
I have an Audi A3 1,8T 1999 (148.000 km).
Please help,

Arne

interesting the problem only came on when you got the clutch done[:-] me thinks something hasn't been put back on like a vacuum line or even the throttle cable could be too tight ( these items would have to be removed when fitting the clutch ) an investigation is required and I would say the garage is at fault

Thanks for your reply.

I have now talket to the AudiShop, and they would check all the vakuumlines and the gasswire next thursday.
I'll post what they find next friday.

Salute,

They (AudiShop) actually had forgotten to tune in the MAF after changing this!!
I also have a leak in the turbo-vent ($50). I have now fixed this, and the car goes smoooooth again
I will now try to get some of the expanses covered by the AudiShop, because I think it was their mistake, and I also believe that the MAF never was defect (I kept the old one; got strange faces from them, but now they maybe understand…).
