Question More towing questions...

I'm considering installing the trailer hitch on my '07 A3 2.0T for the purpose of towing a small 14' sailboat. The sailboat weighs 200 pounds and the trailer is probably about the same if not less. Here's the dicey part: I'm moving from the East Coast to Washington State and I'm thinking of trailering my boat behind my Audi for 3000+ miles...

Your thoughts on whether this is a good idea or not??? I really don't want to trash my transmission...

Thanks for all your help!!!

Cheers,
Mike.

probably not the best thing, but you'll likely be okay. if you're front wheel drive, it may get a little hairy for you in a heavy rain or snow since the wheels with power won't have more than half of the weight on them.

Dealer told me last night that the tow rating on my A3 is 1700 lbs. Towing behind a front wheel drive car is NEVER a good idea, but you should be OK unless you have to do some emergency braking.
