Default Perrilli Tire issues

My story: A3 redline, perilli 225X17 rotated at 5K service. At 18,5K some vibration but nothing seemed serious. At 19K Audi dealership looked at them and said severe cupping on the rear tires said I should replace.

Discount tire looked at the tires, I asked for a balance and rotation. Balance was right on and tire preasure correct... just wondering why rears are cupping inside edge. Anyone else have problems?????

No thats not common on the rear tires, i usually see pre-mature wear on the front tires from wheel spin.

Does anybody have any idea what the determining factor is as to whether an A3 gets the Conti's or Pirelli's? <Still happy with my Conti's after almost 17k miles>

Probably whatever they can buy in bulk for the cheapest price.

I begged my dealer for something different then the Pirelli P Suxes when I ordered, but guess what I got? [sm=boosign.gif] I even told them I would pay the difference.

I had Conti's on my TT and was really happy with them.

Makes sense. I remember when I was shopping around and found this car, it was the only A3 with the Conti's (all the others had the Pirelli's)....and to think, I was worried about getting "crappy tires" since my car was also the only base model on the lot. In retrospect, it looks like I got pretty darn lucky.
