My temp gauge died on me this morning. The needle just sits at cold and doesn't move, even after driving for 20 minutes.

Is this most likely the thermostat? That's what I'm thinking it is .... How much is a fix for this?

 

It's the coolant temp sensor. About $20 for the part and a pretty easy changeout.
