1998 A4 - Steering is making sounds?
Greetings,
First of I hope many posts on this forum. I purchased a used 1998 A4 with 95k. The steering column( i think), is making progressively more humming type sounds as time goes onThe sounds are when you turn the wheel. It is geting loud enough that it turns heads when you turnthe whel. The fluids are fine as I can tell. Any ideas before I take to shop? What I should check? Interestingly it makes little noise when backing up...
Thanks
Andy

mine does the same thing. When its cold, it kinda squeeks or just has a humming sound. As far as I can tell, there is nothing to fix. I have all the papers on my car and it showed that the orignal owner took it in under warrenty to the dealer to get it checked out and they said there was nothing to be done. so i would personally just let it go, because i cant imagine it can be cheap to fix. but hey if it really bothers ya bring it in
