3k miles on synthetic?! Come on that's a little excessive.

So for a B5 1.8t you n eed to remove the front bumper and everything to replace the snub mount? Sounds like a pain. I'm going to order one though, are there any how-to's on changing it on the B5?

i see what you're saying.

and sure.. you can wait til 10000 or more according to some..

actually why ever change it?.. just top off here and there..

i'm just messing with you... but in a way i'm serious.. just to take it to the extreme to show the value of regular 3000 mile changes.

even though it's synthetic, it does break down.. especially the way most of us drive.

also, healthy oil in the car also helps your turbo stay strong longer and cools and lubricates to the ultimate. colder, cleaner running turbos push more hp.

but again.. it's your car, and you can do what you want with it.

i just feel that such a simple (obviously not as simple on the B7's.. so let a shop do it.. but NOT a jiffy lube!!!!) and cheap maintenance is definitely worth doing often. just look at how nasty that oil is you drained there.. that looks horrible! total sludge. [:'(]

if you want your car to run it's very best for 100k+ miles... why not treat it well? $80 x 33 times (100,000/3000) = $2640 very well spent.
