Nah, the water pumps on our cars sometimes knock that almost sounds like a rod knock for some reason. I ripped apart a block for the same noise and it turned out to be the damn water pump.
Get the T belt and water pump replaced and you'll be golden.

 

My water pump is noisy.. Makes my engine sound like a pos at idle. It still works, so I live with it. Sounds like this:

If the waterpump is goin out would the temp. go up at all on the motor? I am knew to these types of cars sorry.

 

If the noise is coming from the top of the engine for sure, its not your waterpump. But waterpumps can be noisy and still do the job.

 

any other ideas maybe one of the heads
