I need some help, I had to clean the IP cluster gauges because some dirt got behind the plastic from the previous owner. I disconnected the gauge cluster, cleaned it but the immobilizer is keeping me from starting the car. Is there a way to reset the system? In some cars you disconnect the battery, someone eles told me to turn on the ignition for 2 minutes, off 2 minutes and that should reset it.

 

Try disconnecting the battery, I'm not sure if it works for these cars but it is worth a try.

 

I did for about 10 minutes, now I can't lock or unlock the car with the key. I will try for longer and see if I can get it reset. But it seems to geting worse.

 

DId you reconnect every connection? If so, you may need a vagcom to reset.

The dealer has my car, he says its the IP gauge cluster has a short in it and needs replacing, good thing it's all under warranty!
