the dealer told me that the abs module is shot. to fix it it would cost the equivalent of $ 2,200 cause they said they can only replace the whole assembly and not just the module.
So I was thinking of buying a new module from ecs since i will be going to the US next month. Thats why its very important for me to buy the right one cause its gonna be tough to send it back all the way to the US if its not the right part. thanks

There are guys on eBay that offer rebuilds on them... it's a few hundred bucks I think.
Do you have a flashing ABS light?
Right now, my ABS kicks in every single stop I make... but it's not my ABS module that's shot. I've got a cracked ABS relucter ring in my CV joint.
EDIT: here's a link. There are cheaper ones on eBay, though... but these guys seem decent. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VW-Pa...31088354QQrdZ1

Do you think it could have just been a cracked ABS relucter ring also?
Yes, I think it sounds like my problem for sure. As far as I knew, a bad ABS module would result in a light on the dash.
With my problem, my ABS module is working exactly as it should be... it's just being tricked into thinking one wheel is spinning at a different speed than the others because the relucter ring is cracked.
You have any work done to the car prior to this problem? For me, it was a wheel bearing job... the ring got cracked (or was cracked, but actually became a problem) after that job.
