Thanks Chris, I was just guessing.

Also, my ABS module has kicked on all cylinder misfires before.

I had the misfire codes recently too. It was only on 1 and 3 though. Switched the coil packs to see if it was that and it turned out I had one bad coil pack and two cracked spark plugs. I'd check the plugs and see if maybe they are cracked.

K, I just got back, The guy told me it is the throttle body. I'm a little leary of that. I'd hate to buy one for $400, then, find out it was actually something else.

Has anyone ever rebuilt a throttle body? (1.8t)

sounds fishy, but..... just go to www.car-parts.com and buy a used one. You can probably get one for 100 bucks or less, and then install it yourself.

I'd get a second opinion though.

OK, Let me clarify. He said the problem was actually the throttle position sensor. But, the TPS comes as part of the throttle body. Looking at it, I can see how it could be removed from the throttle body. But, he said he tried to take one apart one time and, it doesn't just go back together.

Are you still getting the 118 code AFTER you replaced the coolant sensor?

Have you cleared the codes with a VAGCOM?

Try to clear the codes with the above, rather than disconnecting power, then see if the codes come back.

OK, the guy at the shop cleared the codes and all I have now is the one he says is the code for the TPS and he says I need a new throttle body. Still not sure about that though???????????
