Default air intake situation

hey,

I have a 1997 a4 2.8 12valve and im having a problem. i got a k&n cold air kit and then the check engine light came on. i got got it scanned and it said that it was because there was too much air coming in. the guy here said at first it was the maf so i replaced that, then he said it was the boost sensor. so i replaced that too. still not fixed he finally said it was because i didnt have the original airbox on it. im getting pretty mad because the money spent there was for performance upgrades. if anyone knows what i can do please help.

Well, it would help a lot if you could have the codes read again at autozone or somewhere.

A lot of times when people put in an aftermarket, oiled filter, the oil messes with the MAF.

Try cleaning the MAF sensor with some electrical cleaner or rubbing alcohol, it may help. and clear the code and see if it comes back. Just disconnect the neg. battery cable for 5 min. to reset ecu. It takes some driving for everything to reset, about 40 miles.

i already cleaned the maf and the light still came on, ill get those codes again. i dont think the maf was the problem, when i took the stock airbox out there were some sensors i didnt know where to put, like an orange one with two plugins, there was nowhere for it so i zip tied it.
