I am about to become a new Audi A4 owner and have a few quick questions. The Audi I'm about to buy is a 2003 silver A4 and there are a few things I will need to upgrade or change on the car. I would like to know if the changes are possible and how much it would cost.

First the car is "two toned" between the paint and the lower guard rail that goes around the car and houses the front fog lights. The paint is silver while this guard rail is grey. Can the grey guard rail be replaced with matching silver? I thought I've seen cars on here that do not have the "two toned" look and want to know how they did it.

Secondly, the car doesn't have Xenon headlights. How much do new Xenon bulbs cost and are they easy to replace? Can just the bulbs be replaced or the entire headlight?

Those are called "lowers". Yes any body shop can paint those up for you.

There is more to xenon than just bulbs. There are the bulbs, ballasts and ignitors. All of which will be at least a $250 investment. You can retrofit them into your headlights. Search the forums please.

 

Do all Audi's have different color lowers? If so, are all the pics I'm seeing in which the lowers color matches the paint color have been painted after the fact? I'm just trying to decide whether I should try to find an Audi in which the lowers match the paint or just suck it up and have it painted after I buy the car.

 

the 2004 and upo come with painted lowers, but u can get the lowers painted for like 500 and up depending on where u go

 

yes all the B5s with matching lowers are painted. Alot of guys with silver have done it. depending on the color it may be hard to match it. Whit ei hear is very hard. Most do it themselves and there is a guide somewhere around here.
