GHETTO!

The non concealed filter defeats the purpose of the other filter! You will have a better sound, but youll be sucking in hotter air than you were before.

thats what i figured... so I will order a K&N panel filter today and revert the airbox back this wknd.... is the filter we need the 332125? do u suggest that i also do what the previous airbox mod says to do? or just the newest one plus removing the "horn" off the MAF? btw what happens when you go to the carwash and they shoot the water up into the fender well? could you just fabricate like a plastic cover that goes on easily if you go to the carwash or it rains/snows? I think that would be ideal something you can cover those holes with temporarily if you are worried (like I am) about the snow/ice buildup in the fender well in winter. hmmm...

btw... you guys are genious'

Yea just do a k&n drop in with the air box mod.. Do whatever you want, be creative, just do it right. Good point about the carwash.. i dont take my car to drive through car washes though, I do it myself with a power washer. This is deffinately the best DIY mod to come around in a while.. My car sounds like a man now and throtle response is way better.. Deffinately a good mod for people with dbw!

sweet I just ordered that filter and plan on doing this... has this DIY been put into the DIY section yet? or are they waiting for rain tests before they tell people to do it? also I saw the pics of the vent piece they have on the TT wheel well (might be on the video thread for this mod) I'm planning on going to home depot and picking up a piece of this stuff and cutting it to fit... so that those holes aren't so exposed and I can still go to the carwash without worrying.

ok - I guess it's time to check this mod out... Being DBW, throttle response sucks, so anything that can improve it is alright in my book.
I'll probably be tearing out the airbox this weekend.

good idea.. Im sure they can put it in the DIY section with an "at your own risk" disclaimer. So far its a winner. Im still using the OEM air filter.. Ill get a k&n drop in sometime, hopefuly that will make even more of a difference.

and why everytime that i refresh this page does it ask me to log into "Brrman"??

yeah i get the same brrrman thing... its pissin me off...

ok so those tt wheel liner vents were on this page anyone have those or know where to get them?

I get unlimited washes at the carwash for the next year so I can't be worrying about them shooting water up into my airbox...

what if you made the holes a lot smaller but a lot more of them? i don't know if that would restrict airflow but it would also cut down on the amount of debris getting in there... unless of course you are doing what others are doing... the air conditioning foam double sided with metal screen... how hot does it get inside the airbox? hot enough for water to evaporate quickly? hot enought to melt that foam? the drainage hole is a good idea also.... hmmm....

Im a big fan of my air conditioner filter wrapped in screen.. With that setup, im not worried about big holes because any debris/water has to go through a screen, a filter, another screen, then the pannel filter. There is already a small drain hole at the bottom of the air box for drainage anyway. Im very confident about **** not getting up in there with my DIY filter, but am also interested in the fins cover or some sort of "scoop".
