Default boosting problem

ok so the car is a 1.8t 98.5 qtm and as i am driving down the highway i push the gas and feel that the turbo is spooling up really early ( it pulls really hardbetween 2500 and3000) and then all of the sudden it feels like it just dumps all the boost and rocks me into the windsheild (as if its bouncing off the a rev limiter at 3500) it feels retarded!!1what could be the problem this time??? please help. other wise it drives fine only when it builds boost??? should i keep driving it???

You are having the same problem as me. Check your N75 valve. If that is ok then it is probably your wastegate (Which is what mine is). You will need to replace the wastegate (which I haven't done yet) and it will fix it. I have been driving mine like that for a while. Just try not to make it jerk around. It is really annoying to drive to. If you find anything else out then let me know because I want to get mine fixed as well...

Nope, No exhaust problems (that i know of). How did your CAT just fall off??? So you are just driving with the exhaust coming straight out from the turbo? That can't be good.

haha yea i dont know how it snaped off but its just laying there and im currently driving without an exhaust which is extremely loud and annoying but a lot of fun cause the engine revs like a race car (shoots flames and stuff). im hoping its the ecu readjusting otherwise i would really hate to put more money into the car.

Could be anything from boost leak, bad N75, bad diverter valve, bad wastegate.

1. Get a vagcom and check for codes.
2. Check under the hood for loose hoses, check that all the connections are tight.

3. If nothing shows up, do some logging with a vagcom.

i dont think its a leak because it spools and pulls really hard... it feels like its on a 3500rpm rev limiter.
