My brakes have started to squeak but not all the time. They only squeal after the car has gotten warm and has gotten some good stops in. They only squeal at low speed stops liek at the end part of stopping at a red light. (like 20-0 mph). Is this just like normal brake squeaks or is it something differnet? Should i look into some new brake pads? i have 78,000 mi.

 

Well take a flashlight and examine your pad thickness. If it is very thin, then your brakepads are wearing out. If you don't know what worn brake pads look like then you should probably schedule an appointment to have them checked.

 

most brake shops will give you a free brake inspection....but try to sound like you know what youre talking about or they'll scam you into all kinds of unnecessary maintenance...

 

do u guys have a thickness. I know how to check brake pads just i haven't seen alot of worn out pads i usually measure them.

 

no just eyeball it. You know the part of the pad that actually makes contact? If it's below 1/4-1.8" then they need replaced. If your brakes are squeeking then you can almost bank that they are worn anyways.
