i dont know where it is, but i'd stick with rear of the car, i know from my own experience that if i try to open my car 200 feet awayfacing front of the car it doesnt work, but facing rear bumper it works like a champ. Also when i took my rear seat off i didnt see any wires except for heating elements.

 

Thank you Trey25, it was in the c pillar and now the remote works from about 20 ft away now. I just did it temperarily till tomorrow when I have more light.
