Default Clutch adjustment?

When I bought my car a couple of months ago I had never drove a manual before so I didnt notice it but I almost have to let the clutch out almost all the way before it will catch. Its at maybe 1/2 an inch. Is there some knid of adjustment for this or do I need a new clutch plate?

I was skeptical too when i got my car. Especially when (y'all are gonna love this) one of APR's Employees, after driving my car, told me I needed to adjust my clutch or else it would mess up my throw out bearing. I've heard that an aftermarket clutch will lower the relase point somewhat but I personally don't know. I've thought about putting some sort of clutch stop in mine because i have a tendancy to press the clutch to the floor just from habit and this obviously wastes time.
