Default Which Clutch? (uh oh, not another clutch thread...)

Hey all, I got damn near everything priced out for my BT, and decided I'm going full GT28RS in my 00 a4 1.8tqm. I want to do this right, and need a little bit of help finding the best clutch for my setup, as that is I think the last thing I need to find. I want a strong clutch that can handle what the 28rs puts out (about 330 tq), but retains good street driveability. Car is my DD and will be at the strip occasionally, but there are no tracks around where I live, so it will never be on one. I want to avoid a super lwfw for the reason of driveability, but want the rpm's to drop a little quicker, so that's why I have chosen the 16lb spec flywheel or the AWE with the 12lb.

ah ****, i forgot to add the "other"...so if anyone has an idea for a reasonably priced clutch/flywheel set other than these that'll fit my car, rated for the proper power, then please feel free to chime in.

my 11lb flywheel isn't bad at all, but i've always wondered about a 16lb one, thats a good choice for your plans. as for the clutch, southbend is all you should be looking at, awe kits are just southbend kits at higher prices. i'd suggest at least a stage 3. i have a stage 5 that i drive daily on with no problems at all. its stiffer than stock for sure, but not unbearable. my stock mustang 5.0 clutch was harder than my stage 5 southbend clutch. and the clutch is so much more solid. i have no worries throwing any kind of power at it.

get the clutch direct from southbend not thru AWE and you'll save ~$200

http://www.dxdracingclutches.com/

you just gotta contact them to get the flywheel, its ~300 IIRC

southbend resurfaced my OEM flywheel for free, i just had to ship it to them and they are sending it and my FE SS clutch back to me...

if you want to be hard on it, get the FE SS, it can handle anything... pedal effort is the same as the OFE SS but its just more"grabby" due to it having feramic material on both sides, but it will dissipate heat much better and have much longer life

lightweight flywheels usually have some slight chatter at idle, if no one has mentioned that... you can keep the clutch in to get rid of it... my car isnt that much of a track car so for me its not worth it
