Default Clutch went out!!!

My clutch went out as I was driving on the highway today! Where can I find one for a good price? Would a used one be recommended or should I only stick with a new one? Is it hard to replace? Can I do this at home or should only a shop do it? Thanks!

dont get a used one, its pointless.....search ebay, if u just want a stock replacement than ebay would be ur cheapest price, by far.

as far as labor, it depends on how mechanically educated you are, its not really hard, but its not a simple DIY. but then again, im speaking from experience on Eclipses and Talons, never done any clutch work on an Audi

on a scale from 1-10, 10 being the hardest. i'll rate it a 7. if you can't do things like timing belts or head swaps. I think you would be better off letting a shop do it. As for the clutch, ^^^^ do what he said.

does anyone know which stock clutch is best for the B5? What do they install at Audi centres and how much would labour cost?

I've seen Valeo, Sachs/Luk/Exedy (arent they all under the same company?)

Thanks...Bought one for $156 + shipping OEM - LUK / SACHS - the whole kit - not just the clutch. What are the average prices for a shop to do it? Or if I attempt to do it myself, does anyone know of a DIY article on it or what the steps are to replacing it?

the majority of the cost for this job comes from the labor, its quite alot of stuff to do to get it in. even more work if your quattro. how good are you with working on cars, give examples.
