Default Compression Loss in 4th CYL - Valve job needed?

[:@] This is my first posting. So please bear with me. I have a 2003 A4 1.8T with APR Stage II tuning (90k miles), chipped for performance and stock mode. The last few months my CEL has been coming on and rough idle is occurring. I oriiginally diagnosed it as a bad coil and plugs in the cylinder but after performing a leak down test twice on the car my compression rates for the fourth cylinder are about half (85psi) as the other cylinders. Interestingly enough, when pressuring the fourth cylinder you can hear the leak through the third cylinder, which probably means I have either faulty valves or a faulty gasket. I took the car to my audi tech and he agreed with my assessment although he couldn't give me an estimate off the bat how much this kind of repair would cost. If anybody knows how much a new gasket template installation and valve job is with labor I would appreciate your input. My fear is he might say we have to take out the engine... anytime a mechanic says that we're talking thousands of dollars.
