Default Coolant problem

Ok so lets see if anyone can help. heres the situation

1998 audi a4 1.8t. has a coolant leak. the leak is coming from the back of the engine. if you follow the coolant hose that comes directly off the radiator and follow it straight to the back of the engine it is connected to something. i need to know what that something is called and if anyone is selling it. hopefully you guys can give me an answer with out pics if not i will try to get some on here thanks.

Are you talking about that Y shaped hose. I had problems with my audi and I just replaced my hose. Not sure what your dealers are like out your way but the only way I could get it orded was taking the old one off and getting the part number of it. Also that wasen't all of my problems, my temp sensor was leaking too. I had to replace the plastic clip and washer on it (that wasen't fun). Make sure you are certain where it's leaking from. I had a hard time figuring it out on mine being it was on the back of the engine. Hell I didin't realize it was the sensor leaking untill after I had replaced the hose that goes from the back of the motor to the firewall first, and it was still leaking back there...

i just replaced the same thing and posted pics if you can find my post. look under my user name and you should
be able to find it. go to ecs tuning and buy the flange its at the back of the block. cost like 15 bucks plus like 20
for shipping. insane i know. but that flange always goes bad. its not aluminum like it should be.
theres a coolant temp sensor there too. be carefull when taking it out. it just comes straight out. dont twist it.
it'll break and youll have to buy another one. i am still looking to buy it but cant find out which one it is. theres
too many. but thats what it is. make sure the coolant level is where it should be at all times if you are still
driving the car. watch for the temp going up too.
