DIY HomeLink Programming
I just programmed my B6 A4 home link system...and I saw someone asking how to do it! So here is a step by step procedure:
(you will need an existing remote control for your garage)
1. Turn the key to the ON position during this whole procedure leave it in that position (do not turn on the engine) and put your parking brake ON
2. To clear the system of any programmed openers or transmitters (good idea if you just got the car or moved) Press and HOLD button I & III simultaneously for 20-30seconds
3. Memory will clear and you will notice the LED flash differently
4. To program the remote choose one of the buttons on the home link I or II or III and hold until the light starts flashing slowly (you now have 5 Minutes to program the existing garage remote while the car is in program mode. Auto program mode will turn off after 5 minutes and flash the hazard lights if the remote wasn’t found)
5. Take your existing garage door opener (remote) and point it just below the passenger headlight and hold the button on the remote until the hazard lights flash 3 times
6. Homelink has been programmed.
7. Turn the key to the off position and back to ON and test if it has been programmed (note the car has to be in park for this to work as far as I have tested)
For some garage door opener systems you will need to do some additional programming and do the following procedure (if the LED on the home link flashes really fast and then slow after 2 seconds):
8. Once you have completed steps 1-7 go to thegarage door opener (the big motor unit that opens the garage door) and press the Learn button
9. There should be some sort of light or LED flashthat shows you that you are in programming mode
10.Go back to your car and press and hold the programmed button until the Light on the opener flashes
11. Open your garage door manually (at the switch not with a remote) this will exit programming mode
ENJOY!!!! If you have questions PM me!
