Door Lock Problems (2002 A4). PLEASE HELP!
Something started malfunctioning in my '02 A4's driver's door lock last week. The only way I can lock and unlock the driver's door is by putting the key in the door. In other words, using the auto door locks or keyless entry will lock all the other doors, but NOT the driver's door (and this means I can't activate the anti-theft system unless I manually lock it with the key).
I took it to Midas (my first mistake) and they informed me that the door lock actuator was bad. I decided to replace it myself. The dealer informed me that the actuator was part of the door lock assembly. I replaced the entire latch assembly, and $207 and two hours later I'm right back where I started...only able to lock/unlock the drivers door by putting the key in the door.
Anyone know how I might fix this? Thanks.
Peter

Damn it. So does that sound like it's the culprit based on my description of the problem?
Also, is there even an actuator in the door latch assembly, or was I given bad information by the Audi guy? I assume he knows what he's talking about, but if he was wrong, I'm getting my $ back.
Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.
