Default Door Lock Problems!

alright so i went into work locked my car. when i came out the button would work but would not unlock it. so im basiclly locked out. so i did the trick were you hold the key to the left and it rolls down the window, had to climb in. alright im in now i try to pull the lever to open the inside, i remember that my driver door doesnt open from the inside (totally different older problem). so i have to pry of the panel why the door is shut to reach my finger in there and unlock it. finally got the door open. had to completely take off the panel to even get the door to be able to open and close. so now im just wondering what the problem is, everything acts like its working fine if all the doors are unlocked then you press the buttom the alarm sets but the dors just dont lock... and when they were locked they wouldnt unlock, i had to do it manually. help?

It sounds like the central lock module is getting power if alarm is arming, but the pump is not working or there is a vacumn leak. Fuse check wouldn't hurt. When you hit the remote or lock switch in the car, you should be able to hear the vacumn pump running in the right rear quarter area. Normally cuts off after 3-5 seconds or so.

VAG COM the central lock module. It will set a code if the pump runs too long. There's a write up on replacing the pump if it's bad (not the whole #$%&^ $$$ module) with a used VW one.

Junkyard. $40-75 for a Golf or Passat module. Take the pump from the used module. They are supposed to be the same.

i think i read about the swap here.

Nice pics your eminence.

I wonder if the module just needs better shock absorption. Just a theory.

Elitetuning1, this http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec.html is the write up I was thinking about.

I think it;s because they make them out of some sort of graphite type material. It's just too brittle.
