Tire pressure can make a huge difference. I went from 15mpg to 20+mpg by properly inflating my 17"Continental SportContact 2 tires. Somehow, the pressure in each tire had dropped to around 24psi, when I usually have them at 38psi. I'd start there.

what weight oil is in the engine? tire pressures? what grade fuel is she putting in? has the car been aligned lately? have YOU driven the car, to see if there's an obvious problem that she's missing? (sorry ladies, but on average your gender is notorious for this!)
Well most girls couldn't give a flying **** about cars in the first place. Sure they enjoy looking good and driving something nice but let something mess up on it and they'll be cussing at it and throwing a royal ***** Fit. Therefore, IMO girls don't care about the car they care about looking good while driving. I on the other hand treat my cars like I would a person. I kiss my car at night before bed and I hand wash it almost every saturday (least I did with the eclipse and that's not gonna stop short with my Audi). My hand wash takes about 4 hours minimum. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my car. Everything must be running right there must be NO finger prints on the windows / Ebony trim.

But yea most time girls just to care about cars.
yes, but you're obviously an exception. that much is obvious, considering you signed up at an audi enthusiast's site.

I wish my girlfriend was into cars.

Yep, check codes first (like Baconbait said, they're free at AutoZone). Other possibilities that can decrease mileage are bad 02 sensors, clogged air filter, bad connections between ECU and any sensors such as throttle position sensor, O2s, MAF, TPS, coolant temp sensor. Also, tire inflation pressures that are too low can cause excess friction/drag and cut the mileage, as can driving with windows or sunroof open.
