Its not so much a popping backfire I hear, its more of a ricey rattle.....If i'm just crusing normal the sound isn't there, if i'm WOT its there...

Baconbait....I will be getting my welds and mufflers painted flat black, just need to go back over to the shop and put it up on the rack.....I forgot to take the paint the other day and the guy ran out...

SmokeU....you are right, IMO...I have had Magnaflows in the past on pretty much every vehicle I've owned and they've always sounded different after a few weeks...this noise i'm having now tho is abnormal....

BigJC....not sure what a resonator does....i can guess it baffles the sound a little more than what the muffler would do....

 

dont worry about the sound...i had my muffler done about a month ago and its making the same noise....its backfiring that you hear because they took out the resonator(silencer)......nothing abnormal tho......

 

I talked to the guy at the muffler shop and he said if we put an x pipe where the resonator was, it should quiet down the noise, but it also might quiet down the exhaust all together....tit for tat i guess....

 

Looks awesome. I'm thinking about doing the same thing to my 1.8T, so if you could let me know the part number for the magnaflow muffler that'd be great. Also let me know how you like the sound. Congrats again.
