Default having issues...

New to the forum and new to the world of audi. Just picked up a '97 2.8l quattro 5spd. Beautiful car... Anywho, I'm drivin along a few days after buyin it, and i go to downshift. Upon depressing the pedal, i find it falls right down to the floor. after a quick freak out i find i can pull it back up with my toe. while its down, the clutch is still engaged so i have to pull it out of gear. needless to say this was kind of distressing. i keep driving figure its nothing big. It happens again maybe an hour later. Since then it happens more and more frequently, im guessing some kind of hydraulic valve is clogged or worn or something.

i also get a little shudder in the drivers side front wheel when pressing lightly on the brakes. normally i wouldnt be concerned but there is also a squeak coming from the suspension on the same side.

Probably/hopefully nothing but if you guys know anything please fill me in.

how long have you had the car? I would take it back to the company/dealer you bought it from.

The shuddering you feel is most likely warped brake rotors.

Sounds like the accelerator cable is binding somewhere.

Reminds me of the old Audis, you know, the ones that would suddenly jump out of park and accelerate? Shades of the late 70s

Re: the clutch thing, I had the same problem on my Eclipse a few years ago. One of the pipes in the hydraulic clutch system broke and the fluid was leaking out (so pressure was low, that's why the pedal got stuck down). I ended up replacing the pipe and everything turned back to normal... for a while.

After that, actually, I had issues with that hydraulic clutch seevral more times. Everything from replacing the slave cylinder to replacing the master cylinder... it was a pain. Hope you will be more lucky!
