hi everyone, i have a 1997 audi a4 1.8t quattro, when i try and start it it turns over fine but it wont fire up for like 7 seconds but once it fires up it runs a bit rough for like 2 seconds then it runs perfect. If i let it run for awhile and then turn it off and turn it on right away again it fires up instantly with no problems at all, it does not start very well after i every time i leave it off for more then 10 minutes.

I got a audi a4 2004 1.8 turbo 4 door sedan for christmas and i am also having this same exact problem but it does it in hot warm or cold weather so i dont think it has to do with the weather for my problem. The car was bought from a lemon lot for me for christmas so all the problems it had i was given.. I really want to know what is causing this and how i can fix this.

 

well mine just shuts off completely and then i turn the key back and then forth again and i have to give it gas to stay on and it jumps

 

Having the codes read on both your cars would be a tremendous help...Autozone does it for free (depending on where you live)...otherwise, it could be a 100 different things....then you can post back and people will gladly help you....
