headlamp cleaning

Default headlamp cleaning

noticed my left headlight was dimmer than the right. went to check it out and noticed the projector is really dirty. how do i got about cleaning the projector? do they just screw out of the headlamp assembly?

um ok. do the projectors just screw out? all you said was that i can be done, i was looking more for how. I have a B6 A4, halogen projector headlight.

No, I mean remove the whole headlamp from the car - the whole thing, housing and all, and then go into the projector through the bulb mounting hole.

ohhh ok. so this only gets the back of the projector though right? mmmhhh. trying that out tomorrow

Im not sure if they un screw from the housing, as I believe they are all one sealed housing. After quite a few years, the housings can get a little cloudy(reducing light output).I ended up going the expensive route on my B5 by buying a whole new housing from the stealership which cost me about 600 bucks. But I prettymuch had to because my other side housing was damaged and replaced by insurance. My advice would be to take the housing out(which is a huge PITA) and trial and error it to see if the projector comes out. Goodluck man.......

well i had to take the housing out to install my HID's last week. the first time was the hardest because i didnt really know what to do, i should have it down packed now, having taken it down 2-3 times. will give it a rub with some rubbing alcohol tomorrow. thanks.
