Default heat prob 1996 a4

ok i have flushed out core hose with air and water and bled system but what i have found that the coolant is not running steady into the core it is spitting when i bled the system the coolant was come out the pin hole on left hose but when i gave it gas the cooolant stop coming out of the bleeder hole also i get no temp gauge reading no matter how long i run the car gauge work before was saying it was running hot so took mechanic he change the sensor took back now he says gauge im a little wary of that since it worked before sensor and i been going at with him about the heat because it worked before i had timing belt put in water pump thermo now im wondering if the thermostat is stuck open or if water pump faulty he says no claims heater core but since i flushed it out i get heat when i run down the road but not when i idle and the spitting of the coolant leaves to believe somthing not pumping right anyhelp would be appreciated ty tony

sounds like you still have air in the system. the fact that you get coolant to come out of the bleed hole at all tells you that the water pump is working cause it is circulating the coolant to make it come out the hole. you have to leave the bleeder hole exposed, unscrew the coolant resevoir and raise it up as high in the air as you can, hold it there and let it run. occasionally go inside the car and rev the engine up to get the rpm's up. that will help push out any air bubbles you still have in the system. the reason why you have heat when you are driving but not when you are idleing is because their are some big air bubbles still in the system that need pushed out. thats why reving the engine will ehlp push those out. bleed the system until you get steady stream of coolant out of the bleed hole and then you can go inside and feel heat while you are sitting the idleing. then just cover up the bleed hole, reconnect your resevoir and go driving and engine your heat.
