how to change oil
There is lots of information about this on PassatWorld.com, both in the garage and in the regular forums.
The biggest pain is mastering the belly pan; the rest, i.e., filter and drain plug, are really no worse than in most other cars. If you have a 1.8T, disconnecting the air inlet hose from the throttle body greatly improves access to the filter. (You are, of course, using the larger 068-115-561B, instead of the original 06A-115-561B???)

I do everything from underneath the car... ... well except for add oil...
I tried doing the filter from the top, by moving the coolant resevoir... I won't be doing that again. Just jack up the car, and all will become clear... It isn't hard at all. But yeah, make sure you use the big filter.

No wonder the snub took you 48 hours... That would equal about $5,000 in labor at the dealer you saved!!! Just kidding dude... But... uhh... Well there is a drain plug which can be found at the bottom of the engine, and a fill plug which would be located at the top of the engine if memory serves me correctly, then im pretty sure there is something called an "oil filter" which kind of blends in with the rest of the parts cuz its big, round, and says "oi filter " on it.. Youll want to unscrew that counter clockwise, and replace in a clock-wise fashion.. Oh I forgot, dont forget to drain the oil into a container for proper disposal at your nearest advance auto parts or napa... Put drain plug back on, refill oil up to the top line on the "oil dipstick". If you need me to call and talk you through it pm me!
