Default RE: Key Remote

ORIGINAL: Silver98A4

On my drivers key for my 98 A4, there is a button right on the key. Can anyone tell me what it does before i have to resort to looking it up in the owners manual
the button is for the light on your key, thats what i have for my 98, and if you battery is dead in the key you can pop off the key in half and replace the battery

it probably does not work because the switchblade key has the alarm/door frequency from the tt it was for
not all remotes work with all cars.

the older audis will not work with the new switchblade style remotes.

the key functon obvisouly will work since it will be cut to your car

Default RE: Key Remote

I stopped at the local Audi dealership yesterday to p/u a door molding I ordered. I asked the Service Writer about the remote I purchased on Ebay. He indicated that I need a 2nd key to be able to program the remote. (This makes sense as I found some programming instructions on another website that indicated such.) Anyway, he said that a cut key to match the existing key I have and for the remote would cost about $50 - 60 to order from Audi. They don't cut any keys there.

My question is where do I find a locksmith with the correct tooling to cut Audi keys? I know I can get blanks on Ebay. Just need to be able to get them cut.

Thanks!
