Low oil preasure light and ticking noise
I recently purchased a 2000 Audi A4 1.9T and the next day the oil can symbol popped up along with a loud ticking noise that comes and goes arround the valve/lifter area. My mechanic believes that the screen in the oil pan is probably gummed up. He found sludge at the oil cooler and at the valve where you check the oil preasure. If this is a safe assumption to go foward with? /My next concern is that to remove the oil pan it looks like one needs to remove a portion of the undercarriage holding up the motor. Is this possible? Any suggestions, please!
Your mechanic will already KNOW to loosen the motor mounts, jack up the motor (or, most likely, prop up the motor and LOWER the lift), THEN take the pan off, but you could have asked HIM (or Her, I suppose) to explain that to you. What, you don't trust your mechanic? The only person you'll spend more $$ with will be your spouse... You prolly aren't too fond of them, either, huh?
