sorry for the late reply everyone...
a fault code appeared, i think it was along the lines of maf voltage low or sumthing, the clever mechanic decided to delete the codes before i could take note of them!!!. i also had something along the lines of throttle or fuel adaption too high...
i really am sorry for the lack of information, but i did feel better after ringing the mechanics neck.....lol....
thanks

27.78 g/s at idle seems high. I get around 3 g/s. Normal range from Vag-Com says 2.5-3.5 g/s at idle

thanks.
so if this reading is high does that mean that because the maf is telling the ecu that more air is going in, the ecu throws in more fuel and this is causing my terrible gas mileage!!!???!! i.e. is this causing my engine to run very rich??
also this makes sense, because the gas mileage is really bad even when driving the car like a granny!!!

any further contributions???

Yes, I'm thinking your car is running rich. Something with the MAF isn't right. Did you have any codes when you Vag'd your car? Is there a soot stain on your rear bumper?

Idle should be approximately 3 gram per sec.
